About Nightfable
ALPHANightfable is brand new, so expect rough edges and frequent changes.
A home for novels and fanfiction, for night owls who'd rather read one more chapter, and for the writers who keep them up.
Why it exists
Writers deserve to be paid for their work without signing their rights away. The big web-novel platforms tie authors to contracts that take far too much, and AO3, for all its good, doesn't allow writers to earn anything at all. That's commendable, but most of us need money, especially these days.
Nightfable is meant to sit in between: post your stories the way you'd post them on AO3, and if you want to, let readers support you directly. No exclusive contracts, no complicated revenue splits: just one small, flat platform fee to keep the lights on. Writer support is still being built; it's coming in a future update.
What makes it different
- No ads. Not now, not later.
- Your data stays yours. We never sell it or share it with advertisers or data brokers. See the privacy policy.
- Writers decide. Whether a story is free or supported, and how, is up to its author.
- Tags, warnings and ratings the way fanfiction readers expect, and two sites from one account: Dayfable for every work without sex, and Nightfable (18+) for everything.
- Companions: little creatures for your navbar, earned when readers like your comments.
Who's behind it
An aspiring computer science university student who has enjoyed a whole lot of novels and fanfiction, and wanted a better place for them.
House rules
- Be kind. Critique the story, never the person.
- Tag, rate and warn honestly, so readers can choose what they read.
- No harassment, hate or spam, in comments, reviews or anywhere else.
- Only post work that's yours to post.
- See something wrong? Use Report on the comment or review and a moderator will look at it.
